This project is a virtual coach. The goal is to to demonstrate a computer dynamically adjusting to changes in human ability.

Aware Robotic Walker
We will develop an intelligent rollator capable of detecting changes in balance and facilitating safe ambulation. Along with measuring terrain, we will develop sensors that will allow the understanding of the social setting.

Direct Brain Interface
The overall goal of this project is to develop the prototype of a brain-computer interface (BCI) system based on electrocorticography (ECoG) and test its feasibility on patients with severe motor disabilities through the collective effort of investigators across multiple institutions, such as University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon University, Washington University in St. Louis and University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The DriveCap project seeks to extend the reach of driver rehabilitation specialists and collect driver capability metrics utilizing low cost sensor technologies.

Identifying Leading Indicators

QoLT Mine captures, documents, combines and analyzes the relevant research and published literature on all aspects of the QoLT initiative.

Recognition
The goal of the project is to develop the techniques necessary for understanding the user's environment based on sensor data. This includes techniques for localizing the user in the environment, to build geometric models of the user's environment, to identify specific objects in the environment, and to understand the activities of others in the user's environment.

Smart Wheelchairs
We will develop a modular set of sensor and control modules that convert standard power wheelchairs into smart wheelchairs that provide navigation assistance to their users. We will then develop shared control schemes that combine robotic navigation and collision avoidance with the user's inputs.
